Modern Yoga Exercise: Is It Really Yoga?

in ancient India, yoga is a way of life that includes moral and ethical, spiritual and physical components. Positions (asanas) are important but small segment of the ancient practice. Today, many people use the word "yoga" means a specific type of physical exercise, while completely unaware of its spiritual aspect, which makes the modern version of yoga a shadow of its former self. Some classes end with no time invested in the values of Pranayama, relaxation or meditation.
In other words, the essential yoga mat, used in the modern version, the exercise will only be required for a small part of an authentic yoga practice. According to Maharishi Patanjali in the scriptures, in the Yoga Sutras, asana is only one of the eight limbs of Yogic philosophy - all of which are used for the preparation of the final union of one's inner wisdom with the universal consciousness. According to proponents of traditional yoga, it is impossible to achieve enlightenment is simply doing physical exercises, even if they diligently practiced the most intricate position.
In addition to providing a distorted view of the original practice, yoga is a modern side-tracked and used as a method for promoting the glory and selling paintings to the public. This includes personal glory, and all the politically correct organic mats, to expensive high-style clothing and accessories. Although this in itself is not bad in itself, hardly resembles the modest way of life, and unwavering loyalty of many wise men, who leads yoga alive for generations through the Sanskrit texts and oral teachings. When the yogic teachings reached global awareness, it is only natural for a modern take yoga on their own identity.
This does not mean that the physical practice of yoga in today are bad or any less effective than those in other industries. In fact, the asanas and flows can be more effective than many other forms of exercise. Studies have shown that yoga improves the movement of physical health, helps prevent disease, reduce depression and anxiety, relieve pain, promote relaxation and general feeling of well being. Purists, however, may question whether these fitness-based style should be called Yoga.
the fact remains that few people in the 21 century, it is likely to spend long periods of time as an apprentice in the ashrams, meditation, and living a traditional lifestyle Yogi. In fact, a bit of yoga is much better than no yoga at all. If modern yoga practice helps to create calm and peaceful society, and to reduce staggering health care costs, it is a miracle in itself.
Another problem with contemporary Yoga is a bit confusing the fact that some people find that it is counterproductive to the ideals of their religious or belief system. Yoga is a lifestyle, not a religion. Yoga does not discriminate. It does not want to interfere in personal faith and reason, and everyone is welcome to enjoy its benefits. After all, who can argue with a happier, healthier and more peaceful world?
